We’ll continue our look at a few soldier’s graves as I work on finishing the 58th NCT manuscript. John O. Hill was a private in Company K, 33rd North Carolina Troops. He enlisted in Greene County in January 23, 1862. Two months later, he was captured during the battle of New Bern. Hill was released in August and returned to duty in November. He was wounded in the fight at Chancellorsville in May 1863, and died at a hospital in Richmond, Virginia, of wounds and/or “erysipelas.” He is buried in the Confederate section of Hollywood Cemetery.
